DIY Rose Water to Keep Dry Skin Hydrated This Summer
DIY Rose Water to Keep Dry Skin Hydrated
We can't wait for Summer 2021! This rose water infused toner will hydrate and refresh the skin during those super hot days and even cool winter months. Roses; when used in skincare, are a natural astringent that helps to tighten pores, while soothing and moisturizing the skin. The below plant based skincare recipe can also help calm irritated skin during flair ups, or when your skin becomes itchy due to eczema.
What You Need:
-
1 tbsp dried rose petals (preferably ones you dried yourself)
-
3.5 fl oz mineral water
-
1 tsp glycerin
-
1 tsp aloe vera juice
-
2 Glass Bowls
-
Kettle or Pot for Boiling
-
Spoon to stir
-
Strainer
-
Sterilized Glass Bottle (sanitize and wipe clean with 70% alcohol before use)
Steps:
-
Boil the mineral water in a clean kettle or pot.
-
Break apart the roses into the glass bowl and pour the boiled mineral water on top of roses. Steep 10 mins, then strain rose water into another glass bowl to remove rose petals.
-
Mix the glycerin and aloe vera juice into strained rose water, stir thoroughly. Pour mix into the sterilized bottle.
-
Let cool down to room temperature, cover with a cap (or pour into plastic spray bottle), and store in fridge.
Note: Lasts up to 5 weeks when properly stored in the fridge.
How To Use:
After washing the skin with your cleanser, pat dry the skin, then apply this rose toner to a cotton ball and wipe it over the face well. If you are using a spray bottle, spray the mix directly onto the skin (being sure to close your eyes). Let dry then continue with your moisturizer or serum. Do this daily to hydrate and refresh the skin.
What It Does:
Roses - Natural antiseptic and anti-inflammatory that calms and hydrates the skin
Glycerin - Humectant that holds moisture in the skin
Aloe Vera Juice - Wound healing and anti-inflammatory effects
